Record numbers of treasury and finance professionals from across the region come together in Singapore to celebrate and champion women in treasury.
On Thursday 11th April over 130 senior treasury professionals from throughout Asia Pacific gathered at the Four Seasons hotel in Singapore to celebrate diversity at Treasury Today Group’s sixth Women in Treasury Singapore Forum.
A diverse line up of senior industry speakers shared their experiences and insights on a broad range of issues affecting many women and men working in treasury across the region, whilst also offering some valuable advice to the audience. The 2019 Singapore panellists were:
- Catherine Yu, VP Regional Controller, Herbalife Nutrition
- Lay Perk Toh, Corporate Treasurer, Kulicke and Soffa
- Yeng Butler, Senior Managing Director and Global Head of Cash Business, State Street Global Advisors
- Jason Horn, Head of the Asia Pacific Cash & Short Duration Liquidity Business, BlackRock
At the lively pre-lunch reception, the forum was opened by Sophie Jackson, Joint Publisher & Head of Strategic Content who introduced the Women in Treasury initiative and Meg Coates, Joint Publisher & Head of Operations who then presented some of the key findings of Treasury Today Group’s most recent Women in Treasury Annual Global Study, proudly supported by State Street Global Advisors. A three course lunch in the Crescent Ballroom was the setting for the vibrant and insightful panel discussion, facilitated by Sophie Jackson. The inspiring debate included topics such as mentoring, nurturing talent, flexibility and overcoming personal challenges.
Following the panel discussion, an enthusiastic question and answer session took place, with many questions raised by members of the audience who took the opportunity to share their own views and experiences. This enabled the panel to share further insights from their own careers and the challenges they have faced and overcome.
Speaking about the success of this year’s Singapore Forum, Sophie Jackson said, “It’s never felt more important to be here today to celebrate women in our industry. I’ve been delighted to see the fantastic representation for women there is here in Singapore at senior levels in corporate treasury and finance and the support from our community here for the Women in Treasury initiative since the beginning really has been overwhelming!”
Treasury Today Asia’s Women in Treasury initiative
Treasury Today Asia’s Women in Treasury initiative recognises the importance of women in the corporate treasury profession and creates a means for women in treasury to communicate with one another, learn from each other and build relationships in order to help each other.
Women need to be much more visible in their roles, both inside and outside of their organisations. The Women in Treasury initiative seeks to offer a platform to make women more visible and to bring people together to discuss and celebrate diversity in the corporate space.
