This year’s Women in Treasury London Forum took place on Thursday 13th September at the superb venue of Plaisterers’ Hall in the City of London. This vibrant and hugely popular industry event is firmly established in the diaries of both female and male corporates and the forum was attended by over 170 people.
The event opened at noon with a pre-lunch networking welcome reception which featured an informative presentation outlining some of the key findings of our Women in Treasury Global Study 2018, this year proudly supported by State Street Global Advisors. The reception was followed by a three-course lunch in the ballroom, during which an inspiring and insightful panel discussion took place with our leading industry panellists, moderated by Sophie Jackson, Joint Publisher & Head of Strategic Content, Treasury Today Group, who led the discussion on some of the broad themes highlighted by the respondents of this year’s study.

Séverine Le Blévennec
Director EMEA Treasury: Honeywell
Séverine Le Blévennec is the Director EMEA Treasury at Honeywell. Since she joined the group in 2006, she has been managing its in-house bank with a strong appetite to leverage technology. She focuses on strategy and organisation for cash management structures and investments, treasury systems development and implementation, and EU treasury regulations. Previously, she worked for seven years at GMAC European Treasury Center, where she was involved in all aspects of liabilities management. She is the happy mother of two boys.
Helen Hanby
ACMA, AMCT. Director, International Treasury: Biogen
Helen Hanby has worked for Biogen for 14 years, progressing through the ranks to her current position of Director, International Treasury. Helen is both ACT and CIMA qualified, and has worked both in the UK and Europe across industries as diverse as banking, publishing, engineering, telecoms and now biotechnology. Helen lives and works in Berkshire, and is married with a 17 year old son.
Royston Da Costa
Assistant Group Treasurer: Ferguson
Royston Da Costa has over 29 years’ treasury experience. He joined Wolseley, now Ferguson Group, in 2002, and was responsible for managing the group’s daily debt and cash requirements. He also implemented a global multi-currency notional cash pooling structure with BMG in 2010. After being put in charge of treasury systems and development at Ferguson in 2010, Royston helped improve the visibility of cash around the group. He was promoted to his current role in November 2016. He continues to be responsible for driving forward the group’s strategy on treasury systems.
Barbara Patow
Global Head of Correspondent Banking, Global Banking & Markets: HSBC
Barbara Patow is Head of Correspondent Banking for HSBC Global Banking & Markets – she also manages client escalations and reputational risk in Global Banking. Prior to joining GBM she was part of the Financial Crime Compliance senior leadership team since 2011 and has played a leading role in designing and implementing HSBC’s new FCC Control Framework and supporting the business throughout this important period in a number of key roles, including the Global Head of FCC, GBM and the Global Head of AML. Barbara set up a Women’s network in Financial Crime Risk. Barbara is a Marketing graduate and holds Diplomas in Anti Money Laundering, Financial Crime Compliance and Regulatory Compliance.
Yeng Butler
Senior Managing Director and Global Head of Cash Business: State Street Global Advisors
Yeng Butler is a Senior Managing Director and Global Head of Cash Business at State Street Global Advisors. Joining the firm in 2010 as Head of US Cash, Yeng shaped the vision for the business and delivered expanded market share. She built a global sales team, ensuring a seamless client experience to State Street Global Advisors’ institutional and multinational corporate cash clients. Yeng earned her B.A. from Dartmouth College and an M.A. in Public Administration from Harvard University. Yeng also holds FINRA Series 6, 7 and 63 licenses.
Sophie Jackson
Joint Publisher & Head of Strategic Content: Treasury Today Group
Moderator
Sophie Jackson is Joint Publisher & Head of Strategic Content at Treasury Today Group and has 12 years experience in publishing. She began her career in a role in cultural publishing at the Dazed Group, coordinating both editorial content and creative partnerships in Europe and the US. After moving to Tokyo in late 2010, Sophie headed up the launch of Treasury Today Asia in 2012. This was followed by a move to Hong Kong in 2014. Treasury Today Asia is now read by 65,000 corporates across Asia-Pacific and our Adam Smith Awards Asia are in their sixth year. Sophie has been an integral force behind our global Women in Treasury initiative and is a passionate proponent of diversity and inclusion. She is a UCL graduate who studied in Paris and London.
