We were thrilled to reconnect with our APAC community at the first Women in Treasury Forum for 2024. The event took place at the prestigious Four Seasons Hotel on Thursday July 11th, starting at 12 noon. Attendees enjoyed an inspirational afternoon of discussion and interaction with industry peers.

The forum began with a welcome reception sponsored by MUFG including a fireside chat with Manoj S Bhatia, Managing Director, Global Head MNC Banking at MUFG.

Next, we presented the 2024 Within Awards to our deserving winners in attendance. We were delighted to honour Sugandha Singhal as our Highly Commended Winner Champion of Change APAC and Marie Hong as the Highly Commended Winner Woman of the Year APAC. Following the awards presentation, we held a vibrant and insightful panel discussion featuring:

  • May May Pang – Co-head of Payments Corporate Sales, ASEAN, J.P. Morgan Payments

Moderated by Sophie Jackson, the panel discussed some of the key issues surrounding mental health, class and neurodiversity. The session concluded with a lively Q&A session, allowing attendees to share their experiences and ask questions.

Manoj S Bhatia

Managing Director and Global Head of Subsidiary Banking, MUFG Bank

Manoj S Bhatia is Managing Director and Global Head of Subsidiary Banking for MUFG Bank. Based in Singapore, he is responsible for strengthening MUFG’s global network and delivering the firm for GCIB’s existing corporate banking client portfolio, as well as spearheading the acquisition of new business for the bank on a global basis. The Global Subsidiary Banking coverage team is responsible for developing multinational client portfolios across the 50 markets that MUFG is present in globally. The clients covered by this group are subsidiaries of multinationals headquartered in the Americas, Europe and Asia Pacific. Manoj joined MUFG in August 2018 and prior to this he was Managing Director and Head of Citi’s Asia-Pacific Regional Account Management team with the MNC Banking Business. Manoj graduated with a bachelor’s degree in industrial Electronics Engineering from the Bharati Vidyapeeth College of Engineering and has a Master’s in Business Administration from the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies in India.

Marie Hong

Asia Head of Treasury, Manulife

Treasury Today’s Woman of the Year APAC – Highly Commended Winner 2024

Marie Hong is the Asia Head of Treasury for Manulife. Marie has over 20 years of experience in the treasury and insurance sectors across banks and multinational conglomerates in Seoul, New York and Hong Kong. Prior to joining Manulife, she worked as the Regional Head of Treasury at MetLife and Cigna, as well as Treasury Solution Advisory at Standard Chartered Bank, overseeing various markets in the Asia region. She has been leading the Treasury Target Operating model through global treasury transformation and various digitalisation and automation initiatives in the NBFI sector. In her roles, she also manages regional liquidity to maximise investment incomes and adopts best solutions in the market leveraging regional banking relationships. During her time at Standard Chartered Bank, she offered customised treasury solutions to global insurers and corporate clients. Marie holds an MBA in Finance and Corporate Accounting from the University of Rochester in New York.

Sugandha Singhal

Vice President – Head Treasury, SRF Limited

Treasury Today’s Champion of Change APAC – Highly Commended Winner 2024

Sugandha Singhal is a Treasury Professional with diverse experience in treasury, strategic planning, MIS and business analytics. She is passionate about breaking down complex problems and solving them using system-oriented thinking. With a strong focus on process improvement, she has led transformation of the treasury function both in terms of cost-effectiveness and process agility. A firm believer that real change in society must start at individual level, she channels her spare time in volunteering for the cause. Sugandha is also the Adam Smith Awards Asia Highly Commended Winner for Best Working Capital Management Solution and this year’s Highly Commended Champion of Change Winner for APAC.

May May Pang

Co-head of Payments Corporate Sales, ASEAN, J.P. Morgan Payments

May May Pang has been in the J.P. Morgan Payments Corporates Sales team in Singapore since 2012. She is currently the Co-head of Payments Corporate Sales, ASEAN and her team is responsible for providing corporate and e-commerce sales and solutions to large corporate and multinational corporation companies. Additionally, she is also the Asia Pacific Industry Lead for the Consumer & Retail sector. May May joined J.P. Morgan in 2000 and has held various leadership roles across the firm in the Payments business. Prior to her current role, May May was the ASEAN Head of Client Service where she was responsible for meeting the proactive day-to-day service needs of clients. May May holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the National University of Singapore, with majors in Finance and International Business.

Jennifer Doherty

Global Head, Business Enablement & Change, Transaction Banking, Corporate & Investment Bank, Standard Chartered

Jennifer is the Global Head of Business Enablement & Change for Standard Chartered’s Transaction Banking business. In her role, Jennifer is responsible for driving large scale change programmes and strategy to enable the sustainable growth and development of the business and to offer best in class trade finance, payments, working capital and liquidity management solutions. Prior to this, Jennifer was the Chief of Staff for the Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB). She is also a member of the CIB D&I council, and a non-executive director on several boards. Before joining Standard Chartered, Jennifer held a variety of positions across multiple disciplines of Corporate Banking in Bank of America Merrill Lynch, HSBC and RBS. Jennifer has over 20 years’ experience in the Financial Services sector, building extensive experience in Transaction Banking strategy development and delivery, product portfolio management, and in leveraging technology to build bespoke solutions for corporate and institutional clients. Jennifer has been based in Singapore since 2017.
