Press release: Citi bases new Head of Emerging Markets (EM) Research in Hong Kong

31st October 2023 – Citi has named Johanna Chua as its new Head of Emerging Markets Economic Research. Johanna will remain based in Hong Kong and takes over from London-based David Lubin. Further details are included below, and a photo of Johanna is attached.
Johanna Chua is Citi’s new Head of Emerging Markets Economics Research.
Johanna joined Citi in 2000 and has been head of our economics team across the pan-Asia region since 2009.
Johanna will remain based in Hong Kong.
Johanna takes over from London-based David Lubin.
David intends to base himself at Chatham House, where he is an Associate Fellow, to write and engage in projects related to China and Emerging Markets economics.
His last day will be October 31.
David will also become an advisor to Citi, enabling us to continue to leverage his extensive knowledge of Emerging Markets for the benefit of our global client franchise.
