Press release: Citi appoints Christie Chang as Taiwan CEO and Chairman of Citibank Taiwan Limited

5th February 2025 – Citi has announced the appointment of Christie Chang as the CEO for Taiwan and the Chairman of Citibank Taiwan Limited, succeeding Aftab Ahmed, who is set to retire after 50 years of service with Citi. In her new role, Christie will oversee Citi’s operations in Taiwan, driving business growth and strengthening the bank’s presence in the market, with her posting subject to regulatory approval.
This appointment is effective April 1. Christie will report to Marc Luet, Head of Japan, Asia North & Australia and Banking.
Christie brings 35 years of experience at Citi and currently serves as President of Citibank Taiwan Limited and Vice Chair of Asia North Corporate Banking. She joined Citi in 1989 as a Management Associate and has held multiple senior leadership roles, establishing a wealth of experience building strong relationships with institutional clients. She was Asia Pacific Corporate Banking Chairperson, and Taiwan’s Banking, Capital Markets and Advisory Head, Institutional Clients Group Head, Corporate and Investment Banking Head and Corporate Banking Head. Through the years, Christie has championed efforts to provide best-in-class financial services to Citi’s institutional clients across a wide spectrum of products and solutions and the delivery of Citi’s global network and expertise.

Marc also expressed his appreciation to Aftab, saying, “I would like to thank Aftab for his incredible contributions to Citi and for dedicating his career to growing our franchise across the world. His retirement marks the culmination of a distinguished and illustrious five-decade career with Citi. We wish him well on the next chapter of his life.”
Aftab started his career with Citi as an Executive Trainee 50 years ago. He has held multiple leadership roles across the world, including leading various Citi franchises for the last 17 years in Egypt, Hungary, the Philippines and most recently in Taiwan, where he assumed the position of CEO for Taiwan and Chairman of Citibank Taiwan Limited in January 2023.
