Adam Smith Awards Asia 2024 winners announced

Selecting the winners of our awards is always a major milestone and highlight of our year. This year’s winners, recently announced by Treasury Today Group’s Sophie Jackson, Publisher & Head of Strategic Content and Meg Coates, Publisher & Head of Operations, are no exception.

Nominations poured in with over 400 submissions from across this dynamic region. Above all, this year’s winners continue to showcase the continued role of the corporate treasury function as a strategic and highly valued business partner.

Treasury Today Asia’s Top Treasury Team 2024 is awarded to Lenovo, who also won this accolade back in 2017. Much has changed in the seven years since this global technology powerhouse was recognised then. Now, under Ser Mein Koh, ED, Global Treasury, the treasury team’s remit extends beyond traditional treasury functions and responsibilities, and now has oversight over other important functions such as M&A, credit and insurance, involving a team of over 200 people to effectively oversee Lenovo’s global scale. Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd based in Hyderabad, India is highly commended for some impressive achievements delivered by its small treasury team of just seven.

Our Judges’ Choice this year recognises Manaswini Goel, Head Group Corporate Finance and Treasury at Mahindra and Mahindra for a project to address the standardisation of charges across the banks of all Mahindra group companies. The project has marked a pivotal shift in the organisation’s approach towards cost optimisation and operational efficiency.

Our judges were also impressed with the nomination submitted on behalf of Onur Kolat, Head of Corporate Finance and Treasury at Arçelik Hitachi. His achievements are recognised as our 2024 Corporate Treasurer of the Year with Quan (Chris) Tang, Group Treasurer, Haier Group recognised as Highly Commended in the category.

This year’s Rising Star is Alfred Kiong, Treasury Manager at Shell Treasury Centre East (Pte) Ltd.

We again evidence increased collaboration with a range of banking, fintech and other solution partners in many of this years’ submissions. AI-enabled solutions also feature more prominently than in previous years. Other companies we recognise include Air India as Overall Winner in the Best Transaction Management Solution category, CNPC Finance (Hong Kong) Limited in Best Cash Pooling Solution, Dow Chemical (China) Investment Co. Ltd in Best Supply Chain Solution and CNOOC and Shell Petrochemicals Co. Ltd in our Best Funding Solution category. We have also seen strong evidence of the importance companies continue to place on sustainability as demonstrated by our Best Sustainable Treasury Solution won by Far Eastern New Century. Our Best Treasury Transformation Project category recognises four treasury transformation journeys with Chugai Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd in Japan awarded Overall Winner; our three Highly Commended winners are Transsion, Ocean Network Express and Mettler-Toledo.

HOANG DUC Pharmaceutical & Medical Supplies Co. located in Vietnam is our Overall Winner in the Harnessing the Power of Technology Solution category and Cargill Asia Pacific Treasury Limited is our Overall Winner in the Best Emerging Technology Solution category.

The country/region specific categories recognise Shell – Sprng Energy Private Limited, Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Ltd and Castrol in the Best in Class Treasury Solution categories in India, China and ASEAN respectively.

Announcing our winners is the first step in our Adam Smith Awards Asia season that will include a celebratory awards dinner in Singapore on November 14th. We will also produce case studies on all the award-winning solutions, which will be promoted extensively across our digital channels.

The Adam Smith Awards Asia is globally recognised as the industry benchmark for best practice and exceptional solutions in corporate treasury, and this year is no exception. We look forward to celebrating our winners’ achievements and to bringing our formidable community together once again.
