'First Class' Bank Relationship Management

The recent economic turmoil has certainly focused the attention on relationships. Perhaps you have introduced a new RFP/bank selection process or had to innovate to maintain credit lines? Has the crisis made you look again at bank charges, bank account analysis, managing mandates, the use of digital signatures or eBAM perhaps? This category covers all aspects of the corporate/bank relationship.

Best Cash Management Solution

From visibility of data to an automated sweeping process, the winning solution could be a simple cash reporting process or a new hybrid liquidity solution. It could be a mono or multi-bank solution. It might involve a special purpose vehicle, in-house bank and/or innovative account structure. Any solution which demonstrates how the company manages its cash is eligible for this award.

Best Short-Term Investment Strategy

New for 2012, this category addresses the growing challenges being faced by corporates in terms of the trade-off between yield, liquidity and security. How has your company developed its strategy in these challenging times? In what ways have you diversified and/or optimised your short-term investments? Tell us your story.

Best Working Capital Management/Financial Supply Chain, AR/AP Solution

For 2012 we have combined two categories. Efficient working capital is a key challenge for companies of all shapes and sizes. You may have improved your key performance indicators of DPO, DSO, DIO and/or DWC. Tell us how this has been achieved. Maybe supplier finance has come onto your radar this year or is electronic invoicing your new pet project? Or perhaps you have taken the step from STP to STR, automating the reconciliations process?

Best Card Solution

No longer just a piece of plastic, corporate cards have become an integral part of the cash management set-up. Have you implemented a new card programme to achieve increased control and/or visibility? The winning solution could cover any aspect of corporate cards from improving the richness of procurement data to minimising the risk of fraud.

Best Financing Solution

With sources of credit still squeezed, corporate bonds have made a comeback in recent months. Has your company issued commercial paper or bonds? Have you investigated alternative financing to help you to cope through the crisis? Whether a single transaction or as part of a company’s overall debt strategy, this category is open to all types of funding.

Best Risk Management Solution

A category close to every treasurer’s heart, the winning solution could relate to any aspect of risk which arises in the corporate treasury arena. Have you changed the way you control foreign exchange risk, counterparty risk, commodity risk, interest rate risk and more? Has the Eurozone crisis opened your eyes to new risk management solutions? What other risks have you been involved in managing and controlling?

Last year’s winners

Best MME/SME Treasury Solution

This category is specifically targeted at MME/SMEs and recognises that the company does not have to be a major multinational to be considered for an Award. This could include any aspect of the treasury/cash management arena where innovation and/or best practice can be demonstrated.

Best Process Re-engineering Solution

This is a new category for 2012 and recognises the continuing importance of harnessing the power of technology, a previous category in its own right. Have you leveraged your existing technology to improve the way the treasury department operates? Perhaps ‘cloud’ computing is now on your agenda? Any form of technology deployed within the corporate treasury/finance function which is innovative and/or demonstrates best practice is eligible for this Award.

Treasury Today in China

The winning solution could be a response to contemporary challenges and the intricate regulatory environment or may address more fundamental treasury conundrums. This category captures those solutions which have addressed corporate treasury issues in China specifically, whether among local Chinese companies or international companies with operations in China. However, nominations involving China are also eligible for submission in any of the other categories as appropriate.

One to Watch

This category includes any solution which is in the pipeline, has been implemented as a direct result of macroeconomic events, or perhaps a ‘green’ solution. It could also be a project which demonstrates innovation and which does not easily fit another category. Tell us why your submission should be one that we should be watching.

Best in Class Benchmarking

This is a new category for 2012 in response to the increasing use of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) within the treasury function as well as the growing appetite for benchmarking against the industry’s best performers and/or best practices. If you have introduced metrics/KPIs in any aspect of your treasury operations and/or you measure your performance against any industry benchmarks please tell us your story.
