We were thrilled to be joined by our wonderful US community for the conclusion of our 2024 global Women in Treasury tour at the stunning Midtown Loft & Terrace on October 10th in New York for the ninth year of this unmissable industry event.

Our attendees enjoyed an invaluable opportunity to make new connections, share knowledge and ideas and promote gender equality in corporate finance.

Registration opened at midday, with a welcome networking drinks reception sponsored by IFC, which included an inspiring fireside chat with Flora Chao, Global Head of Funding; Capital Markets & Investments, Funding Operations, IFC.

Next, we presented the 2024 Within Awards to our deserving winners in attendance. We were delighted to honour Brandy Newhof, Senior Director of Treasury, Walmart; Kammy Tsang, Senior Director, Treasury, Ripple; Gladys Jin, Head of Centre of Excellence in Global Treasury and Financial Services, Microsoft; Pamela Barry, Assistant Treasurer, Biogen Inc and Christina Easton, former Senior Director of Global Treasury and Financial Services at Microsoft.

Following the awards presentation, we held a lively and insightful panel discussion featuring:

  • Gladys Jin – Head of Centre of Excellence in Global Treasury and Financial Services, Microsoft
  • Brandy Newhof – Senior Director – Global Treasury, Walmart
  • Tiffany Eng – Corporate Treasurer, BNY

Moderated by Sophie Jackson, the panel discussed some of the key issues surrounding mental health, culture and personal power. The session concluded with a lively Q&A session, allowing attendees to share their experiences and ask questions with further networking.

Flora Chao

Global Head of Funding; Capital Markets & Investments, Funding Operations, IFC

Flora Chao oversees IFC’s global funding and investor relations operations based in Washington, DC. Her team covers both public and private debt capital markets, including green and social bond issuances. Previously, she oversaw funding operations in the Asia region, including Australia, New Zealand, China, India and Japan. Prior to funding, Flora was in the Treasury Client Solutions department at IFC, specialising in structured finance transactions in Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. She began her career at Goldman Sachs in its Asset Backed Securitisation group and then moved to Morgan Stanley to help start its public sector student loan securitisation group. Flora holds a Master’s in finance from Princeton and a Bachelor’s degree cum laude in applied mathematics from Harvard.

Gladys Jin

Head of Centre of Excellence in Global Treasury and Financial Services, Microsoft

Treasury Today’s Champion of Change The Americas – Overall Winner 2024

Gladys Jin is a distinguished leader in finance and technology, currently serving as the Head of Centre of Excellence in Global Treasury and Financial Services at Microsoft. Over her decade-long career at Microsoft, she and her team have received numerous industry awards for leveraging technology in treasury and finance. As a Modern Finance champion, Gladys is now focused on launching AI solutions within Microsoft Treasury and Finance, driving efficiency and cost savings through generative AI and machine learning. She’s also an active volunteer in her local community and a career mentor to college students in Africa.

Brandy Newhof

Senior Director of Global Treasury, Walmart

Treasury Today’s Woman of the Year The Americas – Highly Commended Winner 2024

In her 24-year career with Walmart, Brandy Newhof has held a variety of roles, including those in Internal Audit, Accounting, FP&A and Treasury, and has visited Walmart stores and offices across 49 states and a dozen countries. She’s responsible for strategic global cash planning, cash forecasting, working capital analysis and supplier financing. Brandy is passionate about leveraging Walmart’s partnerships, data and strong balance sheet to help suppliers, particularly small and diverse/women-owned businesses, obtain low-cost financing to build and grow their business, ultimately allowing Walmart to better serve customers. Brandy is a Certified Treasury Professional and Certified Internal Auditor, holding a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Virginia Tech. In 2024, she was named Treasury Today’s Highly Commended Woman of the Year.

Tiffany Eng

Corporate Treasurer, BNY

Tiffany Eng is BNY’s Corporate Treasurer. She joined the company in 2022. The Treasury organisation is responsible for global capital, liquidity risk and interest rate risk management, balance sheet management, funding and short-term investments across the firm. She is also responsible for capital stress testing, resolution and recovery planning and the company’s Benefits Investment Group. Tiffany chairs the Asset and Liability Committee, Resolvability Steering Committee and Deposit Pricing Committee. Tiffany joined BNY as Deputy Treasurer in December 2022. Prior to BNY, Tiffany spent more than ten years at Goldman Sachs, where she held positions of increasing responsibility across treasury and risk functions. Earlier in her career, Tiffany was a client portfolio manager in asset management and later became a regulatory attorney with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, where she served on the interagency team that issued key liquidity regulations for banks, including the US Liquidity Coverage Ratio. She also serves on the Global Markets Council of the Risk Management Association.

Maureen Elworthy

Executive Director for Payments, J.P. Morgan Chase & Co

Maureen Elworthy is an Executive Director for Payments for J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. She leads a team responsible for designing integrated solutions that incorporate Merchant Acquiring into the full spectrum of payments services including Global Payments, FX, Commercial Card, Trade and Digital Retail Banking. Maureen brings over 20 years of retail, wholesale and ecommerce treasury experience including international payments. Prior to joining J.P. Morgan, she was the Director of Treasury for Royal Ahold with global responsibilities for payments including management of card acquiring and card associations across five countries. With deep industry experience, Maureen has served as chairperson for the Electronic Payments Committee at the Food Marketing Institute (FMI), Board Member and Vice Chair for the Merchant Advisory Group, on the Euro Finance Committee on payment systems and the Dutch Retail Federation. She is a former member of the Association of Financial Professionals Corporate Treasurers council and Board Member for the Special Interest Group for IIAS Standards.
