It was amazing to be back with our APAC community to host our first Women in Treasury Forum of 2023 which took place on Thursday July 13th at 12pm – 4:30pm SGT at the Four Seasons Hotel, Singapore.
The forum opened at noon with a lively pre-lunch reception which included a welcome by Meg Coates, Joint Publisher & Head of Operations, Treasury Today Group. This was followed by an inspirational fireside chat with guest speaker Honnus Cheung, Co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer, On-Us Group and Sophie Jackson, Joint Publisher & Head of Strategic Content, Treasury Today Group.
Following this, guests were ushered into the stunning Four Seasons Ballroom where the presentation of our Woman of the Year APAC Awards were held. We were delighted to present the awards to our Overall Winner – Rania Ali Alkatiri, Head of Treasury, PT Goto Gojek Tokopedia Tbk and our Highly Commended Winner – Michelle Ang, Group Treasurer, Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation.
After the award presentation, our vibrant and insightful panel discussion took place, with our stellar line up of industry speakers:

Honnus Cheung
Co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer, On-us Group
Honnus Cheung is an experienced financial leader and tech, media and telecom (TMT) start-up expert, with a successful 20-year career in building multi-billion dollar corporate businesses in Asia from the ground. Currently, she serves as the Co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer of On-us Group, a fintech start-up firm. Honnus is an Independent Non-Executive Director of two listed companies in Hong Kong and Digital Ventures under PwC. She is also the ESG committee for CPA Australia and HKIHRM. Honnus began her CFO career at Travelzoo and Yahoo, where she was the founding executive for Asia. She frequently contributes to leading professional publications, sharing her insights and experiences as a frequent speaker in the start-up, digital transformation, ESG and finance community.

Treasury Today’s Woman of the Year APAC – Overall Winner 2023
Rania Ali Alkatiri is Head of Treasury at PT Goto Gojek Tokopedia Tbk and Overall Winner of Treasury Today’s Woman of the Year in APAC. Rania joined Gojek in 2019, and her main priority was to transform the treasury functions by setting policies and procedures to ensure the process is run smoothly and securely. This was a different type of challenge to anything she had experienced within her previous 12 years in the banking industry. Born in Saudi Arabia, Rania began her career in Malaysia, before moving to Indonesia in 2009 where she currently resides. She is a proud mother to two children and wife to a very supportive spouse.
Irene Thng
Executive Vice President and Group Treasurer, Toll Group
Irene Thng is currently the Executive Vice President and Group Treasurer at Toll Group – a leading transport and logistics provider. She is based in Singapore and is responsible for global treasury activities for Toll Group. Irene possesses more than 25 years of extensive cross-border experience in cash, liquidity, risk and debt-capital management, corporate development, corporate restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, forensic audit and process re-engineering. Irene graduated with Master of Commerce (with distinction) from Curtin University in Australia. She grew up in Singapore, spent many years studying in Western Australia and has lived and worked in several countries, including China, Indonesia, France and Switzerland.
Boon Fong Yaw
Head of APAC Payments Business Management, J.P. Morgan Payments
Boon Fong Yaw is the Head of APAC Payments Business Management at J.P. Morgan Payments. In her role, she assumes responsibility for the financial aspects of the franchise such as forecast, planning and development of crucial management information to drive informed decision-making across the segments and countries under her purview. Boon Fong plays a pivotal role in the shaping and execution of the APAC Payments business strategy. With 25 years of experience in regional roles, she possesses an unparalleled understanding of the APAC payments market. Her extensive background in Management Account & Finance, Corporate Banking and Product Management functions further enhances her ability to navigate complexities and tailor strategies that deliver exceptional results. Boon Fong holds a B.A. in Political Science from the National University of Singapore, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from the Singapore Institute of Management.
Michael Spiegel
Global Head of Transaction Banking, Standard Chartered
Michael Spiegel is Global Head of Transaction Banking at Standard Chartered – responsible for the strategic positioning of the business, and delivery of solutions across cash management, transactional FX and trade and working capital financing to corporate and institutional clients. He is a Member of the Supervisory Board of the Bank’s European Hub in Frankfurt, Standard Chartered AG. Outside the Bank, he is a Board Member of Singapore’s Trade Data Exchange (SGTradeX), a digital infrastructure that facilitates trusted and secure sharing of data between supply chain ecosystem partners. He is also the Chair of the Bankers Association for Finance and Trade (BAFT) Transaction Banking Leaders Group.
