Women in Treasury Singapore Forum 2018


Our Women in Treasury Singapore Forum 2018 took place on Wednesday 25th April at the Four Seasons hotel in Singapore from 12 noon to 4:30pm. This popular annual event is firmly established in the diaries of women and men across the Asia Pacific region and was attended by over 120 people from all sectors of the industry.

The Forum opened at noon with a pre-lunch welcome reception which included a short presentation by Meg Coates, Joint Publisher & Head of Operations at the Treasury Today Group, summarising the broad findings of our latest Women in Treasury Study. This was followed by a three course lunch in the Crescent Ballroom, during which the panel discussion took take place on stage, featuring leading industry speakers. The discussion was moderated by Sophie Jackson, Joint Publisher & Head of Strategic Content, Treasury Today Group and featured a superb line up of panellists comprising:

  • Florence Tan, Head, Treasury, APAC, M+W Group
  • Chédia Haddouchi, Treasury Manager, Asia Pacific, Uber
  • Christopher Emslie, Asia Regional Treasurer, General Mills
  • Crystina Hickey, CFA, Vice President, BlackRock

The lively and insightful debate focused on some of the broad issues highlighted by respondents of the study and the challenges to the progress of diversity in our industry, as well as plenty of practical career tips and motivational messages for women and men working in the treasury function today.

Following the panel discussion, a lively question and answer session took place, giving many members of the audience a great opportunity to share their own experiences and seek advice from the panel.

Florence Tan

Head, Treasury, APAC: M+W Group

Adam Smith Awards Asia 2017 Highly Commended Winner – Woman of the Year

Florence Tan has experience handling the full scope of treasury activities ranging from cash management, financial risk management, corporate finance, investments, trade finance and banking relationship management. Florence has previously headed the Asia Pacific treasury functions for various MNCs including Schenker, Apple and Toshiba.

Chédia Haddouchi

Treasury Manager, Asia Pacific: UBER

Chédia has over 17 years of corporate treasury experience across different industries, from toys & games, transportation, healthcare, shipping and new technologies more recently. Having spent most of her career in Switzerland, Chédia is now based in Singapore where she has joined UBER’s Global Treasury team in charge of the APAC region.

Chris Emslie

Asia Regional Treasurer: General Mills

Chris has held various financial positions in South Africa since 1997, including transport and freight, security and IT. He joined ABB in 2008 as a SAP consultant for their ERP implementation, then as Country Credit Manager and finally as their first Country Treasurer, establishing the first ABB treasury operation in Southern Africa and spending three years in Singapore as Country Treasurer. He is now the Asia Regional Treasurer for General Mills, responsible for all treasury operations in Asia. He holds a B Compt Honors degree in Accounting Science from the University of South Africa.

Crystina Hickey

CFA, Vice President: BlackRock

Crystina Hickey is a member of BlackRock’s Cash Management Institutional Sales team in Hong Kong, part of the BlackRock Trading & Liquidity Strategies group. She is responsible for account management and new business development across all client segments throughout Asia Pacific. Her service with the firm dates back to 2007. Prior to joining cash management, Crystina looked after regional coordination and cross-functional collaboration across BlackRock. Prior to moving to Hong Kong she held numerous roles across BlackRock’s US Wealth Advisory business. Crystina earned a BA degree from the University of Pittsburgh and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Sophie Jackson

Joint Publisher & Head of Strategic Content: Treasury Today Group

Moderator

Sophie Jackson is Joint Publisher & Head of Strategic Content at Treasury Today Group and has 12 years experience in publishing. She began her career in a role in cultural publishing at the Dazed Group, coordinating both editorial content and creative partnerships in Europe and the US. After moving to Tokyo in late 2010, Sophie headed up the launch of Treasury Today Asia in 2012. This was followed by a move to Hong Kong in 2014. Treasury Today Asia is now read by 65,000 corporates across Asia-Pacific and our Adam Smith Awards Asia are in their sixth year. Sophie has been an integral force behind our global Women in Treasury initiative and is a passionate proponent of diversity and inclusion. She is a UCL graduate who studied in Paris and London.
