Women in Treasury Global Equity Study 2025

Published: Sep 2025

This year’s Global Equity Study is our most all-encompassing yet. From our core topics of mentorship, flexible working and career progression we also assess neurodivergence, age and menopause alongside additional areas that add nuance to the drive for equity across the world. Our respondents come from around the globe and diverse ethnicities are represented. The majority have worked in corporate treasury and finance for a significant amount of time lending authority and experience to their testimonies.

This year’s responses show a renewed and galvanised focus on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) and on the importance of sharing our experiences against the most challenging backdrop to issues of equity and global stability that we have seen since launching the Women in Treasury & Finance initiative in 2013. It has never felt more important to check the pulse of all those across the world focused on and hoping for equity in finance.

We explore the career journeys and aspirations of our 2025 respondents with 27% aiming for Group Treasurer, 21% aiming for CFO and 27% aspiring to be on an independent board. We gauge the temperature on approaches to flexible working also as this remains a hot issue with implications for equity and DEI in general. Our respondents’ free flow responses to this topic allow us to add colour to the dialogue around access to flexible working, remote work and parental leave with some eye-opening results.

This data set allows us at the Treasury Today Group to highlight barriers and challenges and then to offer tools and resources to help combat this and our work has never felt more important. 58% of our 2025 respondents have been working in corporate treasury for over 15 years bringing a wealth of experience to their responses. Our respondents are committed to DEI and share a variety of anecdotes and interactions which have formed their understanding of the issues around discrimination and identity in the workplace and how these combine to impact equity in 2025.

In late 2024 Treasury Today Group and our Women in Treasury & Finance initiative won the Women of the Future 2024 Corporate Award and with it comes a renewed and expanded commitment to working towards an equitable future for finance professionals across the world. This Global Equity Study is at the heart of this work, and the results will impact and dictate our focus throughout the latter part of 2025 and into 2026 so thank you so much to all those who shared their experiences and gifted us with their insights and wisdom this year. Without you our work would not be possible.

Thank you also to our partner Standard Chartered whose commitment to equity and inclusion is so aligned with the mission of the Treasury Today Group and without whose support this work would not have been possible.
