Press release: Corporate treasurers could unlock efficiency and liquidity gains through DLT, says new report

Published: Sep 2026

23rd September 2026 – Today, the Association for Financial Markets in Europe (AFME) and the European Association of Corporate Treasurers (EACT) will publish a new report examining how distributed ledger technology (DLT) and tokenisation are becoming practical tools for corporate treasury and financing functions.

The report highlights how these technologies are evolving beyond capital-markets pilots and proof-of-concepts, with growing potential to help corporates move money more quickly and predictably, optimise cash and collateral, reduce trapped liquidity, strengthen working-capital and supply-chain finance programmes, and broaden access to funding and capital markets.

Drawing on industry perspectives from both the banking and corporate treasury communities, the report identifies the most immediate opportunities in cross-border payments, collateral mobility, intraday liquidity management and tokenised fixed income markets, where regulated infrastructure and live market activity are already developing.

The report also encourages treasurers to consider DLT as a strategic treasury and financing capability, highlighting how it could help reduce operational friction, improve efficiency and unlock new sources of value as adoption accelerates.
