Published: Mar 2026
Treasury Accelerate is an exclusive programme created in collaboration with J.P. Morgan Payments and Treasury Today Group. Bringing together emerging treasury professionals to join a community that focuses on career progression and skills development with the aim of nurturing and fostering future treasury talent. The Treasury Accelerate community offers people at the beginning of their career the opportunity to join panel sessions and workshops on topics ranging from the technicalities of a TMS to digital currencies. The programme also brings insights from experienced treasurers to help people further down the career ladder learn from their expertise and build their network. In the next in our series of spotlight articles where junior treasury professionals share their experiences, we hear from Juliana Novellino, Treasury Analyst, Group Treasury at Centrica.

What has been the most impactful learning or experience you’ve gained through the Treasury Accelerate programme?
I’ve learnt to apply boldness and purpose to my career through the Accelerate programme. The sessions delivered by India Gary Martin and Kemi Bolarin were particularly influential. Hearing how they navigated complex challenges and made intentional choices throughout their careers was deeply inspiring. Their examples reinforced the value of leading with clarity, confidence and a strong sense of purpose.
The session on treasury evolution was also a significant eye opener. It highlighted that treasury is evolving far beyond payment processing and control. The treasury function of the future is positioned to become a strategic source of high quality data that can enhance forecasting, improve business insights and influence organisational decision making. This broadened perspective strengthened my strategic thinking by helping me recognise how technology, data and cross functional integration can empower treasury to play a more proactive role in shaping business outcomes.
These learnings have reinforced my ambition to contribute as a forward looking leader – one who not only understands today’s operational needs but also anticipates future opportunities, challenges, and the evolving value treasury can bring to the organisation.
Looking back on your career so far, what achievement or milestone are you most proud of, and how has it helped shape your professional journey?
Nearly 20 years ago, my family relocated to the UK, and at that time it made sense for me to take a career break and focus entirely on settling us into a new country and a new life. A few years later, when the moment felt right, I decided to return to the job market. The type of work I used to do involved extensive travel, which no longer suited the reality of my life. That meant I needed to reinvent myself – pivoting back into the corporate world, in a different country and through a complete career change. Successfully navigating this unplanned and unstructured transition has made me resilient and courageous when approaching new challenges. Today, I carry a strong “can do” mentality that influences not only my professional approach but also the way I show up in my personal life.
How is your line manager supporting your inclusion in the Treasury Accelerate Programme?
I have benefited greatly from the support of my line manager, who has consistently enabled me to broaden my remit by providing both the time and space to engage in development activities like Treasury Accelerate. I have an open and constructive communication channel with her and her line manager, and I am regularly encouraged to ask questions, share insights and propose alternative ways of thinking and working. My participation in the Treasury Accelerate Programme has further reinforced the qualities required for long term success in treasury. In particular, it has highlighted the importance of curiosity – about the industry, about how other teams operate and about the broader regulatory landscape. This has strengthened my commitment to continuously seeking knowledge, expanding my perspective and contributing more strategically to the function.
The Treasury Accelerate initiative in collaboration with J.P. Morgan Payments and Treasury Today Group invites people new to treasury to join a community focused on nurturing and fostering future treasury talent. Consisting of panel sessions, workshops, networking sessions and spotlight profiles to help junior treasurers learn from industry experts and build their network.
