While it is common for passengers to accidentally leave their mobile phone, keys or other common belongings in a taxi, Uber’s findings reveal a quirky array of forgotten belongings.

Some of the strange items documented include: a jar of oysters, a robot and even a poster featuring Hillary Clinton. One particularly memorable incident involved a forgetful passenger leaving behind a curious combination of underwear, bread, ham and mayonnaise.

The animal realm was strongly represented in the list, with reports of a pet turtle and two spider containers being left behind. Additionally, a variety of food items found their way onto the list, ranging from ‘expensive blueberries’ to a dish of meat pies.

Uber’s eighth annual Lost & Found Index tracks trends in forgetfulness amongst their customers, as well. Miami, Florida, emerged as the city with the most absent-minded passengers, while data pinpointed the hour between 9pm and 10pm as the peak time for leaving belongings behind. Furthermore, 21st January stood out as the day with the highest recorded incidents of forgetfulness.
