Sleepy workers force self-service

Ex-soldier cooks his own meal at a restaurant after he finds staff fast asleep.

Following a few after work drinks with friends, Alex Bowen, from Pelion, South Carolina in the United States wandered into his local Waffle House restaurant in search of a midnight snack.

However, Bowen was surprised to find all the staff in the restaurant fast asleep. Instead of waking them up he proceeded to rustle up his own meal and managed to make a double Texas bacon cheesesteak melt before leaving without anyone noticing.

In an interview after the event, Bowen said that he was “pretty inebriated” and that the employees “didn’t wake up the entire time. And no one came into the restaurant”.

Respectfully, Bowen cleaned up behind him and even returned to the restaurant the following day to pay for his meal.

A spokesperson for Waffle House said: “Obviously Alex has some cooking skills and we would like to talk to him about a job, since we may have something for him.”
