Press release: Tasnim Ghiawadwala to head Citi Commercial Bank

Published: Apr 2021

23rd April 2021 – I am pleased to announce the appointment of Tasnim Ghiawadwala as Head of Citi Commercial Bank (CCB).

Newspaper press release

Tasnim returns to Citi from Barclays Bank, where she was Head of their Corporate Bank in the United Kingdom since 2018. She was previously with Citi for over 20 years, holding a number of regional management and CCB roles, including Head of Citi’s Commercial Bank in EMEA for nearly eight years. She was also a member of the EMEA Operating Committee.

Tasnim brings with her a deep experience in Commercial, Corporate, Consumer and Investment Banking, as well as a strong track record in driving business growth and transformation, and delivering superior results in periods of intense change.

Tasnim will help refresh the strategy and accelerate market growth for CCB, including the expansion of our digital platforms, in line with Citi’s overall Transformation efforts, driving client-centric solutions to differentiate Citi in this rapidly-evolving marketplace. She will work closely across all ICG businesses, working with product partners across our global network to deliver comprehensive solutions for our clients. Tasnim will also work closely with our Global Functions partners to ensure a holistic approach to strengthening our risk and control environment in a way that will help make us better in everything we do for our clients and further strengthen our competitive advantages.

Since its creation 10 years ago, Citi Commercial Bank has evolved into a unified, global business and has become a leading provider of banking services to mid-sized companies. As it continues to grow, it has become an increasingly important pipeline for other business lines, including Banking and Wealth Management.

Tasnim succeeds Sunil Garg, who was recently appointed CEO of Citibank, N.A., and Chair of the Risk and Controls project group of our Transformation effort. She will start upon completion of her garden leave.

Please join me in thanking Sunil for his leadership of CCB and in welcoming Tasnim back to Citi and congratulating her on her new role.
