Press release: News from Citi: Head of TTS Strategic Partnerships and Innovation

Key to achieving this ambition is to refresh our thinking and strategy, and to embrace talent with different experiences and perspectives. To this end, I am pleased to announce that Carol Grunberg will join Citi in a new role as Head of TTS Strategic Partnerships and Innovation.

Carol joins us from Northwestern Mutual, where she was responsible for the transformation of the money movement and payments experience. Prior to that role, Carol led the creation of new products, growth and strategic partnerships at some of the world’s most recognized companies, including Ant Group (part of Alibaba Group), Google, IBM and Discover. Her roles have spanned across technology and financial services in the U.S., China, Southeast Asia and India. She also serves on the Board of the American Red Cross of Wisconsin, on the steering committee for Milwaukee Women’s, Inc., 2019 President of Women’s Network in Electronic Transactions (Wnet), Advisor to Money2020 RiseUp and Venture Partner at Kittyhawk Ventures.

As Head of TTS Strategic Partnerships and Innovation, Carol will drive TTS’ Innovation strategy, goals and plans, collaborating with partners across business, functions and the other innovation organizations in ICG, GCB, functions and Citi Ventures. She will design, lead and implement a pan-TTS external partnership strategy and framework to enhance our capabilities and deliver our strategic vision, leading transactions from beginning to close. She will also lead TTS’ Innovation Labs and Innovation Catalysts globally, delivering key projects and identifying significant trends and emerging technologies to build new business models and improve our capabilities and solutions.

Her areas of responsibility will include:

  • Exploring and executing on new business models through leveraging existing and new technologies
  • Identifying and executing opportunities to collaborate with and commercialize startups/fintechs in support of the execution of the TTS strategy
  • Managing key internal and external strategic partnerships

Carol will report to me as a member of the TTS executive committee, and will matrix report to Emily Turner. She will be based in New York. Please join me in welcoming Carol to Citi and to the TTS team.
