Press release: BNP Paribas appoints new Head of Transaction Banking, Southeast Asia and Head of Transaction Banking, India

22nd November 2022 – BNP Paribas has appointed Rupa Balsekar as Head of Transaction Banking, Southeast Asia, and Shreeram Sethuraman as Head of Transaction Banking, India, with effect from 1 January 2023.

Rupa Balsekar is appointed as Head of Transaction Banking, Southeast Asia, effective 1 January 2023. In her new role, she will be responsible for leading the Southeast Asia transaction banking teams in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam, rategic plan, with key focus on revenue growth, digitalisation and sustainability. She will report hierarchically to Joris Dierckx, Regional Head for Southeast Asia and functionally to Chye Kin Wee, Head of Transaction Banking Asia Pacific.

Having joined BNP Paribas 15 years ago, Rupa has held various roles across its transaction banking business, and she has been heading Transaction Banking, India since 2015. As an award-winning transaction banker, Rupa has helped the business to grow multi-fold and has built an outstanding transaction banking franchise, supporting the banks corporate clients. She has also spearheaded digital innovation in cash management and trade, delivering a number of industry firsts in the Indian market.

Shreeram Sethuraman is appointed as the new Head of Transaction Banking India, effective 1 January 2023. In his new role, Shreeram will be responsible for leading the India transaction banking team to deliver a fully integrated platform, offering cash management, global trade and transaction banking related flow foreign exchange solutions to corporate clients across all segments. He will report hierarchically to Sanjay Singh, CEO of India and functionally to Chye Kin Wee, Head of Transaction Banking Asia Pacific.

Shreeram joined BNP Paribas in 2018 as Head of Financial Institutions Coverage, India. He has successfully led the institutional coverage team for the past four years, spearheading the growth of the franchise and strengthening strategic dialogue with clients. Under his leadership, the business has achieved significant growth, placing the bank at a leading position amongst foreign banks in the league table for capital raising for financial institutions.
