Published: Sep 2025

Almost four years after their wedding, a couple has uncovered the identity of the stranger who appeared in their photos.

A bride and groom in Scotland were left puzzled when, while reviewing their wedding photographs from November 2021, they noticed a man they did not know appearing in several shots. The uninvited guest, a tall man in a dark suit who seemed to blend naturally into the background, had not been recognised by any of the attendees.

The couple spent nearly four years attempting to identify him. They checked video footage, spoke with guests and the venue staff, and even shared the images online in the hope someone would come forward.

In 2025, the bride, Michelle Wylie, reached out to a social media content creator known as “Dazza.” She asked him to share the images and her story with his audience. Within two hours, the mystery guest came forward, identifying himself as Andrew Hillhouse from Troon.

Andrew explained that he had been late for a different wedding that same day. He mistakenly went to the Wylie’s ceremony, believing it to be the correct venue. Only when the bride walked down the aisle did he realise his error. Concerned about causing disruption, he stayed quietly through the ceremony and even appeared in group photos before leaving.

After years of wondering, the discovery left Michelle amused. She and Andrew have since connected on Facebook and met in person. What once was a perplexing mystery has become a light-hearted story they now share with laughter.
