Research finds that a robust credit score increases attractiveness of online daters.
Dating is complicated, we all know that. Yet it seems like the key to finding ‘the one’ might not be boasting about your new car or latest holiday. It is highlighting your good credit score; a highly esteemed quality for daters looking for that responsible, trustworthy mate.
A recent survey by Match Media Group (the worldwide pioneer of the online dating scene) discovered that 58% of online daters say having a good credit score is more attractive than driving a nice car. Forty percent also say that a good credit score is more attractive than a physically fit body.
Why? Apparently, the majority of men and women say that financial responsibility is a very or extremely important quality in any potential partner.
“When it comes to dating, a good credit score ups your mate value,” says Dr Helen Fisher, Chief Scientific Advisor for Match.com. “Money talks, but your credit score can speak more about who you are as a person.”
So, whilst your credit score is not perhaps the conversation you want to lead with on your first date. It could end up being the reason you are on a second date with Mr or Ms Right and not eating your body weight in Ben and Jerry’s alone on the sofa.
