Australian man finds winning Lotto ticket one year after the draw was made.

Cleaning your car can be a pretty arduous experience. But for one man from Newcastle in New South Wales, Australia, it turned out to be a highly profitable endeavour, as he found a winning Lotto ticket making him an instant millionaire.

He checked the ticket online and found he had won just over one million Australian dollars.

“I was cleaning rubbish out of my car at the weekend and thought it was time to put new cartons in the bottom of all my bags as they were starting to get torn and I got quite a surprise,” he said.

“The ticket was hidden underneath it and I didn’t know it was there. I’m glad I didn’t just get the old bags and take them to the dump.”

He plans to use his winnings to help his children with their house payments and his grandkids with their education.

The find also solves the great mystery of the missing Lotto winner. Cheryl Tuckerman, owner of the shop where the ticket was bought said: “You wouldn’t believe how many customers we’ve had coming in during the past year asking whether the winner had been found.”
