J-pop brings the beats to bitcoin as a new girl-group waxes lyrical about cryptocurrencies.

The world of cryptocurrencies has its own dedicated pop group, after J-pop octet, Kasotsuka Shojo, made their live debut in Tokyo earlier this month.

The group, whose name translates to ‘Virtual Currency Girls’, is formed of up-and-coming J-pop artists from Japan’s Cinderella Academy, all of whom have cryptocurrency-related pseudonymous.

The stated aim of the band is to educate the Japanese about cryptocurrencies, where it is accepted as a currency. They also warn about the risk of fraud and suggest that people choose their passwords carefully.

During the group’s first show they played several songs, including pop-ballad “The Moon and Virtual Currencies and Me,” which focuses on the danger posed by fraudulent online cryptocurrency websites. It includes the lyrics: “It’s hell if you buy at a high price!”, and “don’t underestimate the market!”

The band not only sing about cryptocurrencies, they accept cryptocurrencies for tickets to its show and merchandise. The band members are also paid in bitcoin.
