An 11-year-old boy from York in England, recently broke a Guinness World Record by peeling four mandarin oranges in one minute.

Listeners of the digital radio station Absolute Radio were asked to come up with a new category for the Guinness World Records, which would be attempted on air.

The young audience of the Dave Berry Breakfast Show came up with various categories and the one selected was ‘most mandarins peeled in one minute’ open to under 16-year-olds.

Taylor Camp was chosen from a field of applicants to be the first to attempt the new record.

“He’s obsessed with satsumas. We find peels everywhere,” his mother said.

Camp managed to peel nearly eight mandarins during his practice runs, but during his official on-air attempts found the task much more difficult. He did however manage to reach the goal set by Guinness World Records of four oranges, on his third attempt.

Camp’s record was confirmed by Official Adjudicator Mark McKinley and he was given the title of “Master Peeler” by the radio show host Dave Berry.
