A new way of delivering awards for 2020

Published: Nov 2020

2020 has been a year of challenges and of community, and has impacted all our businesses, industries and families. Our Adam Smith Awards Asia and indeed all Treasury Today Group activities are no different. This year’s Adam Smith Awards Asia demonstrated something quite remarkable, as a record-breaking number of corporates submitted nominations.

This unprecedented competition was set against the backdrop of the most challenging year for business that most of us will have ever seen. This, therefore, makes the achievements of our 2020 winners all the more impressive and, while we cannot gather together for our usual Gala Presentation Lunch, our Adam Smith Awards Asia online season will ensure that the brightest stars of Asian corporate finance will have their myriad accomplishments recognised and their stories told. We will do so in a number of different ways – via our case studies that will be promoted online, in our Adam Smith Awards Asia Yearbook 2020 and via our Adam Smith Awards Asia 2020 podcast series which will go live from December 2020 and into next year.

We will also be sharing stories from our winners from both this and previous years’ alumnae in 2021 as part of a new Adam Smith Awards winner series which we will share full details of next January. Every year’s winners reflect the best and brightest in corporate treasury and so we will be creating a network of previous and present Adam Smith Awards winners from across the world to come together to debate the pressing topics of the day.

This year’s submissions reflected the exceptional amount of creativity and thinking outside of the box which COVID-19 has required. In order to recognise the specificities of treasury amidst a global pandemic we created a new category in 2020 for both the Adam Smith Awards and the Adam Smith Awards Asia, Best Crisis Management Solution. We look forward to sharing the winners’ stories, along with all the other 2020 winners across the Asia-Pacific region, in our new content series.

It has been a humbling experience for our judging panel and for all of us at the Treasury Today Group to see the hard work and exceptional creativity that has been demonstrated this year and we want to thank all of those who support the programme. We also want to point out that this was an exceptionally competitive year and so for those who were unsuccessful, please do not be disheartened. We have many ways of telling your stories aside from an Adam Smith Award, so if you would like to share your experiences, challenges and triumphs this year with our community, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our Publisher & Head of Strategic Content, Sophie Jackson – Sophie.jackson@treasurytoday.com.

You can see the full list of this year’s winners here and can subscribe to our podcast channel so that you can listen to this year’s winners’ series here.
