Having graduated from the Singapore Management University with a Bachelor of Business Management, Jason Han began his career as an Operations Specialist for Citco Fund Services. After a few moves, including positions as a Senior Analyst, International Treasury, Asia Pacific (APAC) at SABIC Capital, and Treasurer at Michelin APAC, Jason is now the Assistant Vice President, Regional Liquidity and Banking, APAC at General Electric (GE), Singapore.

He is making a name for himself as a thought leader and an inspiration to the next generation of treasurers, owing to his dedication and enthusiasm when spearheading key projects. His previous role at Michelin saw him display strong leadership and collaboration skills whilst centralising the treasury function of several major APAC markets. These projects were successful and received the confidence of the CFOs of the countries, which was key to the progress of the Treasury Centralisation Project.

His success in these projects was especially seen in Thailand – the zone business headquarters. Jason’s success not only stemmed from his own skill, but from his belief that everyone, from junior staff to the leadership team, should be invited onboard with the process. He utilised workshops to bring together representatives from all departments to voice their concerns and allow him to bring solutions.

In his current role, Jason is the digitalisation champion and his enthusiasm and willingness to embrace technology has helped to establish the culture of innovation across the businesses. He offers his high-tech expertise to help GE treasury look at new products available in the region and assists with evaluating them. “He is not only driving efficiencies but also helping regional leaders, business treasurers in the region by educating them on these digital products,” says Venu Anumolu, Director, Cash Analytics, General Electric.

Most recently, Jason ran a successful RFI project in the region, in which he brought SWIFT infrastructure to the country with the assistance of a partner bank.

“Jason is the key to shaping our thinking about how to navigate the current environment beaming with digital ideas and products,” comments Manu Taneja, Executive, Cash Management & Treasury Services APAC, General Electric.

He has also led GE’s Cambodia Transformation Project, bringing cutting edge treasury and banking infrastructures to Cambodia. Alongside this, Jason led the digitalisation of Regional Optimal Liquidity Visibility and Analytics with the use of dashboards. This has made data available for stakeholders in real-time, and helped the decision-making process around funding and its sources.

Jason’s accomplishments are not going unnoticed at GE, either. His success was recognised internally when he received a 2019 GE Impact Award.

Since then, Jason has been invited to collaborate with both the GE Government Affairs Team and the GE Accelerator Team to review fintech initiatives across GE businesses, as well as participating in events hosted by the Singapore Central Bank in the lead up to the Singapore Fintech Festival. He has been invited to work with Singapore University to speak with students on his career experiences, and was invited by SABIC’s HR team to share these experiences in orientation programmes for new employees.

Jason is a passionate and skilled treasury professional, who is dedicated to encouraging and mentoring the next generation of corporate treasurers. But alongside that, he is also a devoted father and sponsor of home tuition for teenagers from disadvantaged backgrounds. He balances his success at work with his home life, and according to Major Soon Kar Boon of the Singapore Armed Forces, when undertaking the mandatory National Service in Singapore he excelled at that as well.

Jason is becoming a true industry leader and setting a great example for those thinking of following in his footsteps. It’s his ability to juggle work, family life, and his sense of civic duty to the wider society that sets him apart from the rest and makes him a worthy winner of Treasury Today Asia’s 2019 A Rising Star award.
