Getting on the fast track through talent and drive

Gino Gude is an ambitious and driven treasury professional who has several years’ experience within treasury in a multinational company in a demanding environment. He is a technically minded, well rounded and confident individual with an enthusiasm for his trade which has rewarded him with an admirable career path that has seen his role and responsibilities increase rapidly.

Since 2015 Gino has been employed at Honeywell, based in Brussels. At present he is a Senior Treasury Analyst and has overall responsibility for the Ireland, the UK and the Middle East, with more than 100 active legal entities and US$4bn in revenue.

From the outset, Gino has been focused on a career in treasury. After graduating in management with a major in finance in his native France, Gino pursued a masters in international business in The Netherlands followed then by a master’s in corporate treasury and finance in Lille, France. This early enthusiasm for his profession has seen Gino rise up the ranks rapidly since starting in his first role in treasury at Chantelle as a treasury assistant. This was followed by a role at La Redoute as an FX Treasury Analyst before moving to Honeywell in 2015.

Says Marie-Astrid Dubois, Honeywell Assistant Treasurer EMEA Treasury, “Gino demonstrates an eagerness to learn and fully understand the tasks that have been assigned to him. He has worked closely with our tax colleagues regarding several large loan restructuring and repatriation projects.

“Gino has been with Honeywell for the past three and a half years. He has had to adapt to a very strong and demanding culture coming from a medium size French company. As part of his training he went through a Six Sigma training and certification which is core to Honeywell culture.

“I have seen Gino blossom over the years, demonstrating a passion for winning as exemplified by this submission. Once he understands what is expected, he will drive implementation and look for additional improvements.”

Thinking ahead

Successfully navigating the complexities of a role in treasury means managing relationships outside of your own organisation, and from his early days at Chantelle managing both technology partner Kyriba and calling for bids on bank fees, Gino has demonstrated a real aptitude for this side of the role as many of his partners have attested, “I have worked on the bank side with Gino on the client side for a couple of years now and have been extremely impressed with how professional, knowledgeable and accountable he is on behalf of the Honeywell treasury team. Gino works in a fast-paced team but is always thinking ahead and looking for ways that he can benefit said team as well as create efficiencies within the bank.

“He has recently worked on a Six Sigma project to automate a significant process involving many counterparts – this project was managed in a professional way, which has created noticeable efficiencies and was hugely successful. He has also worked closely with the bank to enable Barclays to become the first bank to launch DocuSign across Europe, thanks to the involvement and drive of the Honeywell Treasury team – Gino was a key stakeholder in this pilot.

“My team at Barclays are very dependent on the interaction and communication we receive from Gino – he is representing a very large corporate with a significant relationship at the bank and his credibility most certainly demonstrates somebody beyond his years of experience. Gino’s way of forward thinking coupled with his proactivity mean that the bank and Honeywell work in a way that, for me anyway means he should be considered as a ‘Rising Star’ of the future and recognised as part of this award category,” says Rachel Chadwick, Director International Corporate Banking, Barclays.

During his short time working in treasury and whilst at Honeywell Gino has made himself a vital part of the treasury team. He is characterised by quickly learning from colleagues, being adaptable and being able to look at the big picture. He has built up a strong relationship with key internal and external stakeholders and works hard to add value to his organisation. Treasury Today are delighted to award Gino Gude with our A Rising Star 2019 award.
