Amanda Schreiber

Head of Treasury

California, US

Amanda Schreiber is the Head of Treasury at ICU Medical, Inc. in San Clemente, CA. She is responsible for all aspects of treasury. Prior to her role at ICU Medical, Amanda held a variety of roles at Broadcom Corporation. Amanda holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Notre Dame.

Making an impact

In one of the most impressive and fast upward career trajectories imaginable, Amanda Schreiber has achieved great things in very little time! Amanda graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2010 with a Bachelor’s in Business and a Major in Finance. Since then she has barely had the chance to look back as she moved into a role at Broadcom Corporation in California, working her way up in various roles. Brett Morris, Director, Credit & Collections at Marvell Semiconductor who worked with Amanda at Broadcom said:

“I worked with Amanda in the treasury department at Broadcom for over four years. I was the Director of Credit at the time. One of Amanda’s many strengths was her willingness to help, particularly with ways in which technology could be used to solve problems. More specifically, she used her expert skills at data mining to create reports I could subsequently use to make improvements to existing processes.

Even though Amanda was not part of my team she was more than willing to take extra time from her day to look at ways to improve aspects in the credit department. People came from all over finance and accounting seeking Amanda’s help. She was the ultimate team player if there ever was one. Amanda is like a walking ‘Alexa’. She has a very broad knowledge of business in general and an insatiable curiosity that drives her to understand how things work. She then uses this knowledge to make her department and those around her to be the best they can be.”

After honing her analytical skills at Broadcom, she moved in early 2017 to her current role as Head of Treasury at ICU Medical, Inc. in California. In this role Amanda is responsible for all aspects of treasury including foreign exchange, treasury operations, cash forecasting and capital markets. Amanda’s current employer is a worldwide leader in the development, manufacturing, and sale of innovative medical technologies used in infusion therapy and critical care applications. In her role she has achieved something quite remarkable and created a world-class treasury organisation from scratch.

For the time I’ve worked with Amanda as the Head of Treasury she has outperformed my expectations. Amanda is very smart and understands the crossroads of treasury and how it interacts with the other functional areas of the company. Amanda has a bright future in the business world and I expect big accomplishments from her into the future.

– Scott Lamb, Chief Financial Officer, ICU Medical

As a real ‘people person’, Amanda is strongly committed to helping others succeed, as her current boss, Scott Lamb, Chief Financial Officer at ICU attests, “Amanda is considerate and thinks of others which is a good personal trait to have and contributes well to society”. Amanda also uses her knowledge and experience to mentor others, teaching them how to navigate the corporate world and where to turn for information and advice, helping to develop a healthy talent pipeline in her organisations. A key focus for Amanda is on helping those around her to succeed.

In creating a treasury organisation from the ground up, Amanda has relished the opportunity to mould the department, utilising her extensive experience. In many respects, she has been fearless in her pursuit of excellence, understanding that if you fear failure, you won’t succeed.

Amanda constantly looks for opportunities to make improvements in treasury processes. Her attention to detail is part of what has made her so successful. Amanda is proud of the role that treasury plays in supporting the life-saving mission of the company.

Outside of her day job, Amanda is dedicated to supporting her local community. Amanda volunteers with her alumni club, the University of Notre Dame Club of Orange County, working on food drives as well as student outreach and college application counselling. She takes tremendous pride in engaging with students and helping them prepare for college – particularly for those whose parents didn’t attend college, or aren’t able to provide support around their education goals.

While she has had tremendous success in building ICU’s treasury organisation from scratch, Amanda is constantly looking ahead to see what can be accomplished next. As Scott concluded:

“For the time I’ve worked with Amanda as the Head of Treasury she has outperformed my expectations. Amanda is very smart and understands the crossroads of treasury and how it interacts with the other functional areas of the company. Amanda has a bright future in the business world and I expect big accomplishments from her into the future.

Amanda cares deeply about her job and getting things done right and on time, so being able to depend on her is a huge benefit to me and the company. I believe the world needs more people like Amanda to make it a better place to live.”

We couldn’t agree more with Scott, and it is for that reason that Treasury Today is delighted to honour an accomplished professional early on in what is sure to be a stellar career. Amanda Schreiber is our Highly Commended Woman of the Year 2018.
