The world’s most popular fintech conference is a diary essential for treasury teams. No topic is off limits with this year’s stella line up and sweeping discussions.
Can ESG really save the world? What is the impact of CBDCs on domestic and cross-border payments? What makes a successful ISO 20022 implementation and how can we restore customer confidence in crypto? Just some of the questions panellists will discuss at the up-coming Money20/20 in Amsterdam, 6th to 8th June, the world’s leading fintech conference preparing to showcase the latest innovations and key insights from across the industry.
No stone is left unturned in a truly packed agenda and a stella panellist line-up curated by Money20/20 hosts Tracey Davies, President of Money20/20 and Scarlett Sieber Chief Strategy & Growth Officer.
Spread over three days, sessions span executives from ABN AMRO and Citi exploring how generative AI is revolutionising financial services to the future of cross-border payments. Cross-border payments are predicted to top US$250trn before the end of the decade (compared to 2017 when the value of these payments was US$150trn) in a relentless pace of innovation. Panellists will discuss how demand for truly borderless payments conflicts with a world that still demands borders, to a degree.
Other sessions will focus on the three pillars of disruption: AI, open banking and instant payments. Elsewhere panellists will explore cloud service model BaaS and discuss how AI can reinvent fraud detection. In other discussions, attendees can hear how the evolution of mobile payments in Africa has transformed financial inclusion. During the workshops, panellists will discuss how merchants need to improve payments (and not just blame fintechs); others will explore trends in embedded finance. Here, such is the pace of roll-out, non-traditional financial services providers are threatening banks market share.
The 300 speakers include some of the biggest names in the industry. Top executives from global banks including HSBC, Barclays, Deutsche Bank, NatWest and Citi; cutting edge payments experts include Hiroki Takeuchi, CEO GoCardless and Stripe’s Head of Climate, Nan Ransohoff. Other firms in the line-up include expanding fintechs such as Plum, Bunq and Zilch to name a few.
Money20/20 Europe will also welcome Julia Hoggett, CEO of the London Stock Exchange, executives from the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, the Regtech Association, the European Banking Authority, and the Israel and German Ministries of Finance to their stages.
Star speakers include former Twitter executive Dr Rumman Chowdhury who famously tweeted she’d been locked out of her account ahead of mass layoffs at the firm under new CEO, Elon Musk. She will share her experience of creating the first-in-industry algorithmic tool to identify and mitigate bias in AI systems, alongside how she led her team of applied researchers and engineers at Twitter to identify and mitigate algorithmic harms.
While the show covers the breadth of topics in fintech, this year ESG is holding a larger space with over ten sessions dedicated to the subject with speakers from Visa, Frontier, the Ellen McArthur Foundation and platforms such as Patch and Parley.
A new stage format called Encore, allows the audience to vote on which of the conference’s headline speakers should come back for a 15-minute ‘ask me anything’ with the audience. Elsewhere, start-ups get a chance to pitch to the audience, taking the microphone for ten minutes to present their ideas for the future.
