This year’s EMEA Forum took place on Wednesday 14th September at the stunning venue
of Plaisterers’ Hall, London. This is the tenth year of this vibrant and hugely popular industry event and we were thrilled to be able to hold it in person and welcome over 100 attendees.
The forum opened at noon with a busy pre-lunch networking reception featuring a brief presentation from Meg Coates, Joint Publisher and Head of Operations, Treasury Today Group, of some of the key findings from our Women in Treasury Global Study 2022, proudly supported by State Street Global Advisors.
The reception was followed by a three-course lunch in the ballroom, during which a lively and thought-provoking panel discussion took place with our key speakers.
The discussion was moderated by Sophie Jackson, Joint Publisher & Head of Strategic Content, Treasury Today Group who facilitated the debate on some of the key topics highlighted by respondents of this year’s study and allowing our speakers to share their stories and advice.

The panel discussion was followed by a dynamic question and answer session, with many members of the audience taking the opportunity to seek advice, share their views and pose questions to the panel.

Yang Xu
Senior Vice President, Global Treasurer & Corporate Development, Kraft Heinz
Yang Xu is the Senior Vice President, Global Treasurer & Corporate Development of Kraft Heinz, a US$26bn publicly listed global food company. Having worked in various roles across treasury, M&A, strategy, finance, sales and marketing and operations in many different countries, Yang believes the best treasury professionals drive value through business partnership and cross functional acumen, and differentiate by defining and delivering the optimal capital structure of a company. Yang holds a Masters degree of Business Administration from HEC School of Paris and London Business School, and is a native of China.
Malcolm Grant
Chief of Treasury, International Organization for Migration
Malcolm Grant began his career as a Chartered Certified Accountant in Essex, UK in the 1980s, before workstations even had PCs! Working with small and medium corporates, non-profits and many other kinds of client, he established a firm grounding in business processes and management consultancy. After working briefly in a Swiss Accountancy Firm, as a UK Registered Auditor, he took an opportunity to work for a UN agency in the Treasury team in 1999 and worked through to be appointed as Global Head of Treasury in 2009. Since that time the team has expanded from just five members to 13 today as the Organization has grown in size and field of operations, now serving over 170 countries. Innovation and automation have been the keys to meeting the huge challenges in that time and this has only been possible with the outstanding women in the team.
Amber Henderson-Smart
Global Head of Client Implementation, HSBC Global Payments Solutions (GPS)
Amber Henderson-Smart is the Global Head of Client Implementation for HSBC’s Global Payments Solutions (GPS) business and a member of the GPS Global Leadership Team. Based in London, she has a proven record mobilising and executing large transformation programmes and is passionate about payments and supporting clients to succeed in today’s digital economy. In her current role, Amber is responsible for enabling a high quality client implementation culture supporting post-sales fulfilment to clients in Global and Commercial Banking. Prior to this, Amber was Global Head of Payables, with accountability for global product strategy for GPS’s domestic payment portfolio. She also led HSBC’s Global Real-time Payment (RTP) Programme, quadrupling HSBC’s RTP country footprint over four years. Amber joined HSBC in 2015, based in Hong Kong, having previously held product and digital roles in transaction banking at ANZ Bank in her native Australia.
Kellie Scott
Global Product Head for Sales Finance, eCommerce Finance and Inventory Finance, Trade & Working Capital Solutions, J.P. Morgan Payments
Kellie Scott is the Global Product Head for Sales Finance, eCommerce Finance and Inventory Finance within Trade & Working Capital Solutions for J.P. Morgan Payments. Based in London, her global responsibilities include product development and strategy, driving business growth, expansion to new markets and end-to-end product governance and oversight. Prior to this role, Kellie was EMEA Trade Legal Head based in London responsible for providing leadership aligned to the Global Trade business and its strategy and prior to that role, she was based in New York. Over the years, Kellie has actively supported the Aspiring Professional Programme, both as Host Sponsor and more recently, as a Mentor.
Sophie Jackson
Publisher & Head of Strategic Content, Treasury Today Group
Sophie Jackson is Publisher & Head of Strategic Content at Treasury Today Group and has 14 years’ experience in publishing. She began her career in a role in cultural publishing at the Dazed Group in London before moving to Tokyo in late 2010 to work as a freelance editor and consultant. Sophie headed up the launch of Treasury Today Asia in 2012 whilst based in Japan and then Hong Kong. Treasury Today Asia is now read by 65,000 corporates across Asia Pacific and our Adam Smith Awards Asia are in their eighth year. Sophie is a driving force behind our global Women in Treasury initiative and a passionate proponent of diversity and inclusion. She is a UCL graduate who studied in Paris and London and is based in Europe.
