New Zealand woman breaks record running barefoot on LEGO

Published: Sep 2025

A New Zealand mother has officially earned a Guinness World Record for completing a 100-metre run barefoot on a LEGO track, proving that, determination and a high pain tolerance can go hand in hand.

Gabrielle Wall, the mother of two, clocked in at 24.75 seconds during her record-setting run earlier this year. The feat gained widespread attention after Guinness World Records shared a video of the attempt on social media, where it gained over nine million views.

The challenge was not an ordinary race. Gabrielle had to sprint across a LEGO track made from 661 pounds of the painful toy bricks. The track was assembled with support from Imagination Station, a New Zealand-based charity that runs LEGO-based educational programmes.

While many on social media joked about the unusual achievement – some citing it as “proof mums will do anything for a day off” – Gabrielle said the run meant something deeper to her and said the challenge was something she had added to her personal bucket list, after a health scare in 2022.

“I am proud to have pushed myself to new limits,” she told Guinness World Records, calling the experience both “unforgettable” and fulfilling.

The LEGO track, known for its sharp edges and unforgiving texture, has long been a source of comedic frustration for parents. But in Gabrielle’s case, it became the stage for a global record that combined parenting pain with athletic grit.
