Adam Smith Awards 2018 Top Treasury Team

Celebrating outstanding achievement

On Thursday 21st June, over 240 people from throughout Europe, Africa, the Americas and the Middle East joined together in the City of London to celebrate their success at the 11th Treasury Today Adam Smith Awards.

Launched in 2008, the Adam Smith Awards programme is universally recognised as the international industry benchmark for achievement. Showcasing the very best of the achievements of Treasurers, CFOs and Finance Directors, the Adam Smith Awards puts treasury in the spotlight. This year the programme received over 200 nominations spanning 35 countries.

After the pre-lunch networking drinks reception and a welcome introduction from Angela Berry, Director and Founder, the Gala Presentation Lunch began. This was followed by a three course lunch and the awards presentation ceremony, with all Overall Winners and Highly Commended Winners receiving their much sought-after crystal awards on stage.

2018 winners

Use of technology continues to be a key focus in many of the solutions showcased and our Harnessing the Power of Technology category accounted for a quarter of the submissions entered. The Best Cash Management, Best Working Capital/AP/AR, Best Trade/Supply Chain and Best Foreign Exchange solution categories were also very popular. As in previous years, our Top Treasury Team, Woman of the Year and A Rising Star categories were also very well supported. The quantitative as well as qualitative benefits being achieved are truly remarkable and demonstrate what is possible with the right solution.

Some key themes are emerging too. Several entries were again driven by M&A activities, treasury transformation projects involving technology and projects which deliver some impressive funding and foreign exchange as well as Middle East and Africa solutions. The geographic dimensions of the solutions are also worth highlighting, with almost half being global in nature. Collaborative solutions are also prevalent, especially where banks and technology companies have partnered to deliver a particular solution and the use of treasury consultants is also noticeable in this year’s nominations.

We congratulate all those honoured in the Adam Smith Awards 2018.

“I think the most important thing is the excellent recognition that we get. It validates the work that we’ve done as a team, not just to us but to our senior management and to our board and our shareholders. Coming from an organisation like Treasury Today, which is obviously world class and global, just adds so much more to that validation.”
