In this issue of Treasury Today in China we are delighted to announce the winners of the 2011 Hui Chuan Awards for excellence in treasury management in association with EuroFinance Conferences. Case studies detailing many of the winning and highly commended solutions are included in this magazine.

The Hui Chuan Award categories were as follows:

  • China Treasury Team of the Year.

  • Cash and Liquidity Management.

  • Working Capital Management/Financial Supply Chain.

  • Best Process Re-engineering.

  • Harnessing the Power of Technology.

  • Best Funding Solution.

  • Treasury Practice Innovation.

  • Best Practice in Outsourcing/Finance Shared Services.

  • Best Global and/or Local Banking Solution.

Open to any corporate operating in mainland China, the Awards recognise the achievements of those companies that have demonstrated best practice and innovation. These cover many different areas of a treasurer’s responsibility, from cash management to technology and from financial supply chain to funding. Nominations were received from a diverse range of companies across China.

We were honoured to host a celebratory lunch in Shanghai in November at which the winners and highly commended were represented, together with their banking and service providers. Please see the case studies for more details on their achievements.

The nominees were all treasurers and senior financial officers looking to implement innovative solutions in China’s complex regulatory environment. Competition for the Awards was very strong and all nominees should take pride in the resourcefulness and effectiveness of their solutions.

In addition to the case studies featured in this edition, we also look at cash management challenges and trends in China, interview Leo Yin, Head of Sales, Cash Management China, Global Transaction Banking in China at BNP Paribas and consider topics such as optimising working capital and implementing a TMS.
