Digital Realty Trust, Iberdrola, Deliveroo and Microsoft are just a few of this years Adam Smith Award winners.
The treasury of Digital Realty Trust has been named Treasury Today’s Top Treasury Team 2018. The team, led by Michael Brown, VP Treasury, received the award on account of its large-scale transformation project that has redefined the way the treasury operates and how it supports the business’ growth ambitions.
“My team is incredibly excited to receive this news and it is an honour to be named Treasury Today’s Top Treasury Team 2018,” says Brown.
The San-Francisco headquartered company are joined by 59 fellow corporate award winners that have been recognised for their ingenuity, innovation, teamwork, determination and vision.
A stellar year
In total, Treasury Today received over 200 nominations from companies of all shapes and sizes from 35 countries. The judging panel once again commented on the incredibly high standard of every nomination and how difficult this made choosing the winners in every category.
“Congratulations to all our award winners. The work you have done is truly inspiring and highlights the value that an innovative and forward-thinking treasury department can add to the organisation. We look forward to celebrating your success at the Adam Smith Awards Gala Presentation Lunch in London next month,” says Meg Coates, Joint Publisher & Head of Operations at Treasury Today Group.
Technology played a key role in many of the submissions Treasury Today received. As a result, Harnessing the Power of Technology was one of the most hotly contested categories. The Overall Winner in this category is Tableau Software. The team’s in-house built solution that has given them 99% visibility over of their cash caught the judges attention.
“What a great way to start my day and what a tremendous honour and great recognition of the work that the team has done,” said Ed Barrie, Senior Director, Treasury at Tableau Software.
The Best Cash Management, Best Working Capital, Best Trade/Supply Chain and Best Foreign Exchange solution categories were also very popular, with Inchcape Shipping Services, Microsoft, Merck and Nike being named Overall Winners in these categories.
The Adam Smith Awards also recognises individual achievement and this year Elena P. LaFrance, Treasurer at Alkermes has been named Treasury Today’s Women of the Year 2018. LaFrance was selected by the judges not only for her standout career as a treasury leader but also for her work in the local community.
“I am both very humbled and honoured to have been picked for this prestigious award,” says LaFrance.
In the other individual award, Dominique Cachelin, Treasury Manager at Samsung has been named Treasury Today’s Rising Star. The award recognises Cachelin’s meteoric rise in the Samsung treasury department and his willingness to go above and beyond in everything that he does.
