August is the cruelest month for IPOs

Always a slow month on the capital markets, August didn’t fail to disappoint again this year. Data released by Renaissance Capital shows that the economic slowdown on either side of the Atlantic and Europe’s sovereign debt woes meant that many IPOs were shelved at a perennially sluggish time of the year on the markets.
