  1. I think there's a real danger here. The people who already use Twitter and Facebook are the only ones who might ever end up doing this, and they're using it 'socially' - are they going to want the CFO to hear stories from their student days? Or to see photos of them drunk at the ACT Conference afterparty? There's a LOT of potential for accidentally posting private info on a work forum...

  2. Tim - I would tend to disagree. People had similar worries about email and the internet but everyone uses them in business now. Of course there are risks involved with social media, just as there are with all forms of communication - mobile phones being in the spotlight in the UK at the moment - but treasurers need to make their voices heard in any way possible.

  3. Not only is Twitter is an incredibly democratising tool, best seen when individuals with large, loyal followings are able to cause serious issues for large organisations with little social media experience.
